Work Force is located in the North End of Winnipeg, Manitoba; one of the neediest communities in Canada. We minister to youth who may be falling through the cracks but have oodles of potential. We believe that these youth are assets in our community that remain untapped. Therefore our objectives are to teach employment readiness skills, build self esteem and confidence, fill spare time with productive activities and enhance the relationship between the youth, their community and with God.
Work Force runs in partnership with Bethlehem Aboriginal Fellowship which is located in the heart of the community. All programs run out of this building at 294 Burrows Ave.
There are a number of different components to Work Force:
Summer Work Force – Youth work at odd jobs in the community with residents and businesses for a couple hours 3 times a week. They learn such things as how to work with an employer, problem solving, how to do a good job etc. Much time is spent with the youth one-on-one when they are not working. The youth are paid minimum wage by Work Force and provide a valuable service to the community.
Youth Church – Youth church is geared towards youth who are interested in learning more about God. We meet Sunday afternoon weekly and the youth experience God in creative interactive ways. There is large and small group activities, service opportunities and lots of fun. |

Youth Group – This is a ten month weekly fun night for youth who attended summer Work Force and their friends, ages 12-15. The teens get the opportunity to hang out in a healthy environment with volunteers who genuinely care for them. Activities can range from glow bowling, playing hide and seek in the dark building, to hair-dye night etc.
After Hours – This program provides youth with the opportunity to strengthen their academic skills through activity based learning. The teens work on various projects in an active and fun way. After Hours meets twice weekly after school. |
| Computer/Employment Lab – Older teens, ages 16-20 attend this lab to learn basic computer skills that are an assest to being hired. They also learn more advanced employment skills such as writing resumes, how to look for a job, how to handle an interview etc. At the end of 3 months, staff help youth use their new abilities to find jobs. |

At Work Force we believe our youth have talents and abilities that can lead to meaningful lives. We teach, challenge and dare them to dream. We also teach, challenge and dare them to dream what life would be like with the living God in their lives. We do this through one-on-one relationships, God talks, discipleship and youth church. |

Volunteers are another valuable asset to this ministry. We could not run without them and their talents. Do you want an adrenaline rush as you see Jesus move in lives? Would you dare to allow the Lord to change you as you reach out to these teens? If so, then Work Force may have a place for you as a volunteer or staff.
